As we celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Faculty of Science at Hong Kong Baptist University over the past six decades, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the collective efforts of our community. Together, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of academic development, delivering exceptional education programmes and making pioneering scientific discoveries that have garnered global recognition.
At the heart of our educational philosophy lies a steadfast commitment to fostering a caring, creative, and globally aware culture within our teaching and learning environment. We recognize the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) and have proactively integrated AI education into our curriculum. By equipping our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the AI-driven future, we are ensuring their preparedness for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Moreover, our transdisciplinary programmes encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing our students to tailor their academic journeys to their individual interests and aspirations. These innovative programmes foster versatility and adaptability, essential qualities for success in our ever-changing world.
In addition to our commitment to teaching excellence, our faculty members are deeply engaged in groundbreaking research that drives scientific innovation and positively impacts society. We take great pride in supporting the government's efforts to consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's development of the "eight centres" as outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan. Our focus on science and technology development aligns with these goals, providing the impetus needed to sustain our competitiveness and economic growth. Through our research endeavors, we aim to contribute significantly to the advancement of Hong Kong's strategic sectors, fostering innovation and making a tangible difference in people's lives.
To facilitate collaborative research and interdisciplinary advancements, we work for four strategic research clusters at the university level: Creative Media/Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Humanities and Cultures. These clusters exemplify our commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and addressing complex societal challenges. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, we aim to catalyze transformative research that shapes the future.
As we embark on a new chapter with the rebuilding of the Ho Sin Hang Campus, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. This revitalized campus, equipped with state-of-the-art capabilities and capacities, will serve as a thriving hub for innovation and discovery. We believe that this new era of growth and development will further enhance our ability to tackle pressing challenges and seize the multitude of opportunities that lie ahead.
