HKBU organises Green and Organic Health Run to promote farming in the city


Officiating guests water organic vegetables to kick off the Green and Organic Health Run to promote farming in the city

The Green and Organic Health Run 2014 organised by HKBU's Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre was held on 23 November at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. Around 4,000 people participated in the Run this year. With a theme of “experiencing local agriculture”, this year's activity encouraged participation through running as well as planting organic vegetables which can be done at home.

The officiating guests included Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment, Mrs Sophie Leung, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre, Dr the Hon Elizabeth Quat, Legislative Councilor, Ms Louisa Lui, General Manager of Amway Hong Kong Ltd, Ms Brenda Au, Head of Energizing Kowloon East Office, Mr Pun Kwok-wah, Vice Chairman of Kowloon City District Council, Professor Rick Wong, HKBU Vice-President (Research & Development), and Professor Jonathan Wong, Director of the Centre.

At the venue, there was a carnival with activities suitable for the whole family, including demonstrations of organic farming and cooking organic food. In addition, participants could bring their potted organic vegetables back home in order to continue organic farming in the city.
