The Faculty of Science of HKBU organised a Science Open Day with the theme "Science in Green Living" on 6 July 2010. The Science Open Day attracted over 850 participants, enabling them to learn how science relates to the environment through various activities from the perspectives of five major science disciplines: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics.
The Science Open Day included activities such as talks, exhibitions, laboratory tours and games. Guest speakers and HKBU academics gave lectures on environmental issues, sharing new technology and useful tips to help preserve a green planet.
The Science Open Day is part of HKBU's annual Science Festival which aims to promote public awareness of science and its applications in everyday life. The Science Open Day 2010 also included the Mathematics Summer Camp with the theme "Math in Life" and a photo contest on "Green Living". Award-winning photographs were exhibited at the Science Open Day and can be viewed here.
