On 29 April 2016, the research postgraduate (RPg) student representatives successfully organized an alumni sharing talk on career planning. The speakers included four alumni from Departments of Biology and Computer Science. They are:
- Dr Zou Weiwen (COMP Alumnus)
- Dr Li You (COMP Alumnus)
- Dr Sun Jin (BIOL Alumnus)
- Dr Chen Xiaowei (COMP Alumnus)
Dr Zou Weiwen received his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2012. He is currently a Manager in Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI). Dr Zou shared with students on some tips for job searching and interview. Dr Li You obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2015. He shared his experience in establishing his own company. Dr Sun Jin received his PhD degree in Biology in 2013. After that, he further pursued research study as a Post-doc Fellow in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Dr Sun elaborated on his experience and achievements in academic career life. Dr Chen Xiaowei obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2013. He is currently a Technical Trainer in Amazon Web Services. Dr Chen shared his insights on career selection.
RPg representative Mr Ren Xiaoliang (Biology, PhD, Year 3) was the person-in-charge of the activity. More than thirty RPg students and staff members participated in the talk. Students and staff members took the precious opportunities to ask their questions in the Q&A session. Students knew more about career planning and learned precious experience from the alumni.
During the event, the RPg student representatives, as follows, were bestowed the certificates of appreciation and awards in recognition of their contribution in various activities organized for science RPg students across the Faculty in 2015/16 academic year.

*As Mr Mai Guangcan was participating in an overseas attachment, Mr Wang Qiang, Jack (COMP, PhD, Year 1) received the certificate and award on behalf of Mr Mai.
