Professor Wong Ming-hung, Chair Professor of Biology and Honorary Director of the University's Croucher institute for Environmental Sciences, is ranked in the top five in several categories according to the recent list of Microsoft Academic Search – Top Authors in Environmental Sciences.
The ranking shows that in the last five years, in the "Pollution" category, Professor Wong is first in the world based on total citations and third based on H-index. In the "Overall Environmental Sciences" category, he is ranked fourth globally based on total citation and third based on H-index.
Professor Wong has published 507 SCI papers and 32 book chapters, and edited 25 books and special issues of scientific journals. He is currently the most cited Chinese scientist according to ISI Web of Knowledge (26 October 2012) in the area of Environmental Science/Ecology, and has been ranked first in that area on the list of the top 20 most influential Chinese scientists in the world based on paper citation frequency and H-index (June 1990 – July 2009).
Professor Wong has wide research expertise in environmental science and environmental toxicology. He is dedicated to studying the impact on human health of pollution in aquaculture, soil and the environment as well as ways of ameliorating this problem.
